The District of Columbia has created a “Sustainable Energy Utility” (DCSEU) to help energy efficiency solutions to District residents. Homeowners with single-family homes or townhouses within the city boundaries are eligible for incentives to include $150 for air sealing and $300 for insulation and direct installs: CFL light bulbs (up to 20), water pipe insulation, water heater blankets and aerators for kitchen and bathroom faucets financed through the District of Columbia Department of the Environment (DDOE). All homes must be less than 4,000 square feet. Apartments and condo units are not eligible. Eligible D.C. residents need to sign up through the District of Columbia Department of the Environment.
